Designer Stephanie Dosen of Tiny Owl
Knits shares the inspiration behind her
Gypsy Petticoat..." i was inspired by a
vintage petticoat i found at a charity shop in London. (if you want to take
a peek at it, im actually wearing the original in the woodland hoodlet photo
shoot.)
i used rowan revive which is made of recycled clothing! i
loved the meshy feel and knitted it on large needles so it has lots of swing
and a nice loose drape. the ruffles are knitted separately and then whipstitched
on. it works great as a swimsuit cover-up too!
ps. a few people were wondering about shaping.. i opted
for a straight back. it isn't really supposed to wrap completely around you
like a coat…. it kind of just dusts your back and sides for a bit of added
flounce and flair! ps. the gypsy petticoat can be worn with or without
antlers."
