Laura Aylor shares the inspiration for her
Everlasting shawl..."I fell in love with Pearly Everlasting flowers
on our first family trip to Nova Scotia many years ago. I love the tiny,
creamy flowers and the straw-like feel. The colors and understated
frilliness of this shawl remind me of them."
Knit from the top down in 2 contrasting colorways of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in stockinette with lifted
increases forming a cape-like shape. The scallops are shaped with short rows
and a bit of simple lace. The under layer is picked up from behind and knit
in stockinette and lace.
There are a couple of techniques used that could be
difficult for beginners - the lifted increases, the one long row that
includes multiple short rows, and picking up stitches from the purl bumps on
the wrong side. Video links and how-to photos are included.
