Melynda Bernardi of French Press Knits shares her inspiration
for her French Press Felted Slippers..."The design of these
felted slippers were inspired by my favorite dressy ballet flats. Everyone
deserves a little style- even if just while lounging around the house."
Constructed more like a shoe than a sock, these felted
slippers will keep you stylish AND comfortable! Also great for gifts, as it is a
very quick project! This pattern is written with a lot of details and
pictures, it even includes instructions for felting. My goal was to make it
available to all types of knitters.
Sizes included in instructions: S (5/6), M (7/8), L (9/10). If
you would like smaller or larger this would not be hard to do to- the pattern is
very simplistic with size changes.
Yarn: approximately 150 g/330 yards worsted weight,
feltable wool such as Cascade 220
Needles: size US 15 (10mm)
Gauge: 8 sts and 14 rows = 4"
Notions Needed: Darning Needle, Tapestry Needle, Pillow case(recommended for felting)
& 2 matching buttons
Skills needed: Knit, Purl, Increase(make 1) & Decrease(knit 2 together, purl 2 together)
NOTE: Although a top-loader washing machine
is recommended, the pattern has been tried in a European Front-Loader(lower
agitation, can’t always control the whole cycle). It can work, but it is less
predictable and may take a longer amount of time.
