Supplies 1 skein Malabrigo Rios
16" Circular 4mm (6US) and 5mm (8US) and DPN 5mm (8US)
Gauge 18 stitches over 4" in stocking stitch using the larger needles.
Instructions Using the smaller needle cast on 110 stitches using the long tail
cast on and join in the round. Place a marker for start of round.
Round 1 - *Purl 1, slip one purlwise with yarn in front* repeat ** to end of
Round 2 - *Knit 1, purl 1* repeat ** to end of round.
Round 3 - Knit all stitches
Round 4 - Knit all stitches
Repeat rounds 1 through 4 another three times, for a total of four pattern
repeats from the cast on edge.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2.
Change to larger needles and work stocking stitch until your hat measures 8
inches from the cast on edge.
Begin decrease rounds and change to DPN when needed:
Decrease round 1 - *Knit 2 together, Knit 3* repeat ** to end of round.
Work four rounds plain.
Decrease round 2 - *Knit 2 together, Knit 2* repeat ** to end of round.
Work 3 rounds plain. Decrease round 3 - *Knit 2 together, Knit 1* repeat ** to
end of round.
Work two rounds plain.
Decrease round 4 - *Knit 2 together* repeat ** to end of round.
Work 1 round plain.
Final round - *Knit 2 together* repeat ** to end of round.
Cut your working yarn leaving a long tail, thread the tail onto a blunt wool
needle, and thread your remaining stitches from the knitting needle onto the
yarn tail. Tighten to close the hole, pass yarn tail to wrong side of hat, and
weave in tail securely.
